Time to Talk

It’s Time to Talk Day on Thursday 2nd February 2023! Run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, Time to Talk Day is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. Conversations have the power to change lives – helping to create supportive communities where we can talk openly about mental health and feel empowered to seek help when we need it.

It’s hard enough to experience mental health problems, without having to face the judgement, shame and isolation that often surrounds them. That’s why Rethink Mental Illness want to end mental health discrimination.

1 in 4 people will experience a mental illness in their lifetime. People can, and often do, recover with the right treatment and support. Living with a mental illness should not be a barrier to a good quality of life.

Rethink Mental Illness’s vision is for equality, rights, the fair treatment and maximum quality of life for all those affected by mental illness, their carers, family and friends. Every year, their diverse range of information and support helps tens of thousands of people get through crises, live independently and feel that they do not have to face mental illness alone.

Rethink Mental Illness has many ways that can support people who are struggling and need support with their mental health. Some of those ways are:

Carer’s Service: They provided 715 carers with a range of support and advice to maintain and improve their wellbeing.

Online Resources: Their online mental health information was viewed 5.5 million times in 2020/21, up 2 million visits on the previous year.

Advice Services: Over the phone, they directly advised over 3,900 people on mental health issues, including living with a mental illness and medication. We also advised 2,100 by email and over 700 by webchat. To speak to someone call the freephone on: 0808 801 0525.

To allow these services to continue Rethink Mental Illness requires support, campaigns and donations. To get involved or find out more information, please visit: https://www.rethink.org/
