🌍 Promoting Global Action to Prevent Suicides
Every year, communities and organisations unite to raise awareness and work towards a world with fewer suicides. In 2018 alone, over 6,800 people in the UK and Republic of Ireland lost their lives to suicide. Each life lost is a heartbreaking tragedy.
But there’s hope—suicide is preventable, not inevitable.
💬 The Power of Words: Break the Stigma
Talking about suicide remains stigmatised, but changing the language we use can make a huge difference. This World Suicide Prevention Day, we’re focusing on how to talk about suicide safely and responsibly. The right words can create a safe space for others to open up.
🤝 Be There: Your Presence Matters
Many who have experienced suicidal thoughts find it a relief to talk about their feelings. Simply being there to listen can be incredibly powerful. If someone you know needs to talk, remind them that support is available, such as through the Samaritans.
Let’s work together to create a world where everyone feels safe to share their struggles and seek help when they need it.
