Alcohol Awareness Week is a national campaign run annually in the UK by Alcohol Change UK. It’s designed to get people thinking and talking about alcohol, its effects, and how we can make healthier choices.
Alcohol doesn’t just affect your social life, it can also impact your sleep, mental health, weight, productivity, and even increase the risk of long-term health issues like heart disease, liver damage, and depression.
Time for a quick self-check:
❓ Do I often reach for a drink to relax or cope with stress?
❓ Do I actually know how many units I’m drinking each week?
❓ Could cutting back (even just a little) improve how I feel?
Small changes can make a big difference, try adding alcohol-free days or swapping to low-alcohol options 🍹. You could even give Dry July a go or use a drink tracking app to stay mindful.
👥 Need support? You can speak to your GP or you can call Drinkline (0300 123 1110) the national alcohol helpline. Calls are free of charge and the information shared remains confidential. You’re not alone!
